It was Kate’s sister, Abby, that brought us to Charleston, South Carolina for our first “real” vacation as a family. Blake traveled great… despite the harrowing, two-legged flight on AirTran with a 3 month old. The flight attendants were great at helping us manage feeding time aboard a tin can 30,000 feet in the air. If you ever want to know how to heat up a bottle of milk on a plane… airsickness bags actually become useful for things other than containing hazardous materials.
Our first day was at the beach… where the wind turned things into a Three Stooges episode.
The next morning we stood under the Angel Oak… a sprawling 1,500 year old tree.
That night we hiked across Charleston’s newest marvel, the Arthur Ravenel Bridge (longest cable-stay bridge in the Americas).

The girls indulged me on my birthday with a tour of the Yorktown
The poor boy was tuckered out on the late flight home.
Come if you can at 7pm to my place (email if you need directions). If you can’t make it, come back here on Thursday and you should see a live stream from my living room.
