First day in Alaska

EndlessMountains

We finally made it after two days of traveling. There were a few close calls for missing our flights, but we evetually made it around 11am Alaska time on Saturday. The weather here is amazingly beautiful. From Abby tells us, this is the first clear day in months… so we waste no time and get to vacating.

In our first half day we saw a bald eagles, snow covered mountains that spring out of the sea, magical islands, several pods of sea lions (or whatever you call a group of sea lions), super friendly people, and probably a DOZEN whales.

Here are some highlight shots of the day:

Alaska or bust

Alaska 2007

Tomorrow we’re off to Alaska to go get Abby and bring her home. Saddly, we’ll be traveling one less passenger. Mums, Kate’s grandmother, was supposed to join us on this trip, but unfortunately her husband fell and broke his hip, so she’s staying behind to take care of him while he’s in the hospital. Our prayers will be with them both.

For the rest of you, check back next week. I’m sure to post some pictures (assuming we’ll have internet at the house).

Spring Planting

Planting-Watermelons

Kate and I are trying our hand at planting some seeds this spring and seeing if we can get anything out of them. If all goes well, we’ll move onto step two next year: a garden out back.

Spring Meetings

Drew lost his grip

Flew to San Diego for work this week, and before you go thinking how cushy that may seem… I was stuck in a windowless room having a continuous meeting for two days straight. On good behaviour, they released me Tuesday night so I could have dinner with the Pearcy’s (Eric, Joy and little Drew).
