Aspens

Didn’t bring my camera to the slopes, so I stole this pic.

Got back last night from the 6th annual OBC ski trip to Glenwood Springs. Nursing sore muscles, my mind still swims with visions of sailing through wintery white aspen glades blanketed in deep untracked powder. I can still hear the angels singing.

It was a good ending to what may very well have been my last trip to Sunlight. It’s been a good run, but that bus ride can be killer.

Alyssa, Brent and Maddox will be in town this weekend, so stop on in… have a laugh and learn how to drive.

Hungarian Knuckle Bleeder

While in California last week, Caleb and Emily dropped by for a game of… well, we don’t exactly know what it’s called, but it involves slapping and that’s all we need to know. It’s a family favorite.

In other news, Dora the mixed-breed explorer, entered womanhood recently and she is now constrained to wear doggie diapers. Don’t stare at her though, she’s self concious about it.

Inidentally, happy valentines day.

Anatomy of a hack

Our email server at work was hacked over the weekend. I spent the last 20 hours pouring through Google results trying to determine the cause of our mysterious problems. It turned out that the little punk installed HackerDefender 1.0, a vicious little program that not only allows the hacker to access the server in its entirety, but it also cloaks all the files he’s installed. So even though I knew what was installed, I had seemingly no way of removing it. Thankfully, with the help of a program called DameWare, I was able to “uncloak” the malicious program and delete it. Interesting enough, reading one of the text files I came across a comment from the hacker ‘himself’:

Respect admin, you reached the next level;)

Great, now I have the respect of some kid who has too much time on his hands. I can sleep better now.

Tomorrow I head off to California for some fantastic meetings where I sit in a room for hours at a time and doodle. At least I’m looking forward to getting away from this computer screen.

Now all this negativity makes me sleepy. I’ll try to dream happy thoughts and give you a more cheerful report later this week.
