Back home

After a couple of stressful weeks, I finally finished the 2005 edition of the Youth Ministry Yellow Pages, a 124 page monster. I flew into San Diego on Saturday and spent some quality time with the California squad. I’ll be working from the SD office all this week, and spending the holiday weekend in Temecula.

Carrie’s been sick for some time now. She’s missed work all last week… out with a case of mono, according to the doctor that never calls. Luckily her parents were in the area for the weekend (and are still there today), so they could care for her while I skipped town.

A ton has been going on lately, but with a few deadlines met, I hope it’ll slow down a touch. One of these days I’ll show you what Richard the programmer and I have been working on.

Offroad

Update: Here’s a picture from Dan’s perspective, as I navigate the woods and a steep decent.

Dan Farmer and I hit the trails on Saturday. The 4Runner performed well… except when she got stuck in that mud pit and Dan had to pull her out. It was almost worth the $10 entry fee just to watch the pros climb some unbelievable grades with their shiny red Jeeps. This is a sport that I’m trying not to get hooked on… it can get nasty expensive real quick. Not to mention all the cleaning that needs to be done afterward. (Carrie, my truck needs washed)

The many faces of Maddox

A little photo shoot with the nephew and his great grandmother in Colorado Springs:

Colorado was fun if not hurried and hectic. (I had a magazine to send to press which added a good deal of stress) This past weekend I went to Arkansas with Carrie to hang out with the Burns family. Many old memories flooded back while visiting the small town of my alma mater. The JBU school grounds have significantly changed… several new buildings and a few old ones torn down, leaving a gaping scar in the landscape where the were once rooted. But even with all the change in scenery, it wasn’t hard to imagine myself back in school, putting off my homework, meeting up with friends, and having a deep seeded desire to go to the LRC and check my email. It was all too real and a touch spooky to boot.

This weekend I’m putting the old 4Runner into 4low and going off roading with my friend Dan Farmer. It’ll be a rip roarin’, mud flingin’, midwest kinda good time.
