Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Turkey day folks!

I know, I’ve been slackin’ lately. sorry, such is life these days. Busy.

Tomorrow I’ll just be hangin’ out in Temecula for Thanksgiving. Dinner is at the Pearcy’s since Joy’s parents had a snafoo and won’t be able to finish remodeling their kitchen in time.

Up, Up and…

Had an interesting suprise on my way to work yesterday. I turned the corner and there were three balloons taking off, with snow-capped mountains in the distance. A nice way to start the day. Luckily I had my camera handy, so in the process of driving, I took a quick snapshot. (it was more majestic in real life, you’ll have to take my word for it.) I bet Caleb and Emily have a much better view of the snow up north.

Ticket to ride

With the help of Orbitz, I bought my ticket to Italy yesterday. May 17 can not come soon enough.

ER take two

As it turns out, my brother also went into the emergency room this week. Kidney stones. Ouch. Here’s hoping for a small and painless passing.

Right now, if all went well, Joy should be resting quietly in the recovery room from her gall bladder surgery.

So there’s two people for you to pray for today. Now stop reading this and do it! (nothing like militant prayer)

Joy Update: Eric says, “She’s good… She is minus one gallbladder and very sore.”

Prognosis

When I arrived at the hospital last night, I was just in time to hear the surgeon’s take on Joy’s mysterious stomach ills. He assured her that this isn’t as rare as it may seem, that he get about one case like this a month. He thinks there’s about a 50-75% chance that it’s a diseased gall bladder, and Joy, sick of it all, is more than willing to go ahead with the removal of the problem organ. The surgeon did a fantastic job assuring us that they weren’t rushing into surgery, and that this 50% chance is by far the best course of action. A test, something like an angioplasty I think , which is second on the possibilities list would only garner less than a 10% chance of cure, and all other test from this point on only can promise 1% at best.

So Thursday morning she’s scheduled to have her gall bladder surgically removed. She’s still heavily medicated to help keep the pain at bay and is lashed to a liquid diet that essentially sucks. But spirits are good. If this surgery is the answer, it would be heaven sent. Keep her in your prayers.
